Long-time owners Beckie and Darin offically changed the store name to Gavin's Books

"There are a lot of bookstores with the name of 'The Bookworm' across the country so we've been wanting to make a change for a long time.  This year we decided to make the switch.  The store is named after our store mascot and best friend, Gavin, the dog." - Darin Gabler

GORDON SNIDER - Author Signing

Gordon has published numerous magazine articles, many on travel destinations, and two business books. His second business book, How to Become a Killer, was published in 1999 and was the basis for a popular seminar that he presented at trade shows and conventions throughout the U.S. and Canada. The magazine articles often included his photography.
He eventually found himself photographing for tour operators. One of his assignments took him to Tibet. The country so mesmerized him that he wrote his first novel about it, entitled Sigourney’s Quest. Since then, he has published several more novels including The Separatist, The Hypnotist, Venice Lost, I'm Traveling as Fast as I Can, and the sequel to the Hypnotist, The Origamist. His books are available at Gavin's Books.

Tony Piazza is a Central Coast mystery writer, film historian, presenter, and a veteran storyteller well-known for his passion about writing and movies.
He is an author of the mystery novels Anything Short of Murder, A Murder Amongst Angels, The Curse of the Crimson Dragon, Murder is Such Sweet Revenge, and Murder Will Out available through Gavin's Books. Piazza’s memoir, Bullitt Points, from SansTree, provides a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the classic Steve McQueen movie Bullitt and the involvement of the Piazza family in the production.

Catherine Kitcho is the author of eight books in the genres of business, marketing, humor, cooking, wine and spirits, and fiction. She is also the founder and owner of an independent book publishing company, Pele Publications. Catherine spent the early part of her career in project management, and later became a high-tech marketing consultant, retiring in 2013. She is a long-term member of the California Writers Club, and founded the Coastal Dunes Branch in 2014. She lives on the Central Coast of California with her husband, David Bernstein.  

She will be signing her newest book, Dark Side Identity.

Tara is a successful CPA in Los Angeles; Tia does shore excursions for a cruise line along the Mexican Riviera. Deborah is a poet, playwright and co-author of a children's book. Her work has earned four Pushcart Prize nominations, three Academy of American Poets awards and a Children's Choice Book Award. Tobola began teaching creative writing in California prisons in 1992. She is the Founding Artistic Director of Poetic Justice Project, the country's first theatre company for formerly incarcerated people.
At the age of forty-five, Deborah Tobola returned to her birthplace, San Luis Obispo, to work in the very prison her father worked in when he was a student at Cal Poly. But she’s not wearing a uniform as he did; she’s there to teach creative writing and manage the prison’s arts program―a dream job.

She will be signing her memoir, Hummingbird in Underworld: Teaching in a Men’s Prison

Hans immigrated from Bavaria Germany in 1957. "None of us spoke English which presented a real challenge. It was tough when I entered high school not knowing the language." said Berger. He graduated three years later and joined the U.S. Navy stationed at Pearl Harbor. They sailed to Asia, Samoa, and all the Hawaiian Islands.

After the service he entered the University of Colorado at Boulder. Later in life Hans became a law enforcement instructor after graduating from the University of Indiana. After retirement he began writing his book "A Bridge to Cross."
